Thamgidi Collection

Thamgidi Collection : Collecting contemporary art began with the realization that arts and cultural heritage from the African continent are disappearing on a daily basis to the western world and beyond, thus draining the continent of its cultural heritage and intellectual activity. Faced with the challenge to preserve the arts for cultural heritage, Thamgidi began collecting, preserving and documenting contemporary art and artists from Africa and the international diaspora in 2005. We are pleased that the Thamgidi collection has grown beyond the focus of Africa and the international diaspora and now includes works of artists from across the globe. As a result Thamgidi Foundation is now working on the realisation of a museum of contemporary art – that will mainly represent the collection of Thamgidi Foundation.
